  1. I'm not into streaming, but I ripped all my CDs to my computer years ago. I'd love to know how to not have my laptop in my stereo system and use something like a RPi to connect to a hard drive, use a touch screen to find what I want to listen to, and connect to a DAC. Any ideas?

  2. Holy cow! I have been trying to find something to do with my Raspberry Pi, and looking for a solution to stream audio from my local NAS, Spotify, etc. I can't thank you enough! I know what I'm doing this weekend! Yay!

  3. Digital over USB? From my years of experience working with digital if there are no errors in the transmission of the "0" and "1" you are golden. That being said USB has always been a resource hog… Out of curiosity I attached my Audio interface that I use for recording, (relatively new) to the Raspberry Pi 4. Maybe the Raspberry Pi 4 hardware has better USB it seemed to sound about as cloce to what I was mixing on the big workstation using the same amp speaker (near field monitors). Though the DAW software was struggling on playback using 32bit float at what ever sample rate I was using at the time when i recorded the song, the rendered results played fine on media Player VLC 16bit wave and MP3. this was using both the USB 2 and USB 3 ports on different tryouts. Yes there is the typical click and pop changing playback software that I get with this interface when using ALSA when I'm using "JACK connection kit" on the workstation there is no odd clicks and pops under Linux. it also draws its power from the USB port too. I could see my self using this in the field one day with a battery pack and portable screen.

Ps. the latency was low-enough to record harmonising backing vocals… Though I would never use this set up permanently It was just to find out how well it works… The digital from the HDMI is very clean, dynamic and musical through one of my playback DACs

  4. One more like from me. I have a raspberry pi gathering dust. This video opens the door of music streaming to me with much fun and the lowest cost. Thanks. So I ordered a DAC to team up with the pi.

  5. Hi John.
Lovin' the videos thanks. can you please give me a bit of advice. I have a arcam solo movie 5 .1. With kef floorstanders. What streamer/ server would you suggest. I'm like you I have all my cds from UK.
    Cheers Micky

  6. Having just built my own NUC and installed ROCK, I'm now trying to figure out how to get a headphone jack "onto" my NAD M10 (yes I've watched your NAD/NAIM video). You've given me some more things to explore at my local IT store. I can possibly now use my Burson Audio headphone amp 🙂 Thanks John. Cheers from lockdown, Melbourne Australia

  7. Absolutely excellent .. thank you so much for taking the time to explain all of this ..but holy cow ..the blue nose thing at the end… 1100 USD … that will get you a boat loads of pi's

  8. Just found your Channel, my setup is Raspberry PI + Schiit Modi 3 + Spotify, Volumio, I rediscover the joy of listening the streaming music, thanks John from Montreal, Canada. Next step is Spotify to Tidal

  9. The title is a bit misleading. I came here to see how to stream to youtube or twitch or RTMP, but it was just a sound thing :/ (From a google search) Just add Audio in front of Streamimg since Streaming in general means video&audio
