As a conservative who is certainly leaning towards voting Trump in 2020, I believe Sanders made a fairly decent argument at the end of this video (from 27:40 to end), that we may pay more in taxes, but we will pay less total because of decreased health care costs.

I make $80k a year and am barely getting by. Student loans and extremely high costs of living are suffocating. I never thought my degree would insure that I get by. I did it because I saw opportunity but things have changed so much. Btw, my health insurance through my job keeps getting worse. I’m willing to give Sanders a chance for sure. Something has got to change.

Within the years my state alone with see more than a half a million of these desperate lawbreakers released into our backyard.
