One really annoying thing with my TS453A is that it indexes the entire device for all media files – even files outside the folders that I have set for DLNA use. ( I do not use Video, Music, or Photo Stations.) In my case, I only use the NAS for video (not music or photos) but it insisted on indexing all 148,000 jpg files that are in my data backup folders.

How do you limit the Multimedia Console from indexing part of the NAS volumes?
I have my QNAP NAS with two main data volumes, one for backups and one for filesystems+multimedia.
How can I limit the Multimedia Console from indexing the backup volume?, backups come from different computers using NetBakReplicator.

I need to change my HHD's and my "manage" button is grayed out… How can I replace my drives one by one with out loosing my data?
It wasn't obvious from this video how Photo Station is used to move folders from the PC to the NAS, files yes, but folders no. Also from Videos Part 1 to Part 3 doesn't show how to set up shared sub folders to shared folders. Creating a shared sub folder similar to windows doesn't seem to happen. The NAS appears to have a different file hierarchy.
