  1. So here is an idea, I have a few laptops that the screen hinges have broke on and I have thought about running a digital photo frame from it. But the down side is that the only way of doing this without having a 6 inch back to the frame is to extend the cable. Down side is lots of little wires.
I have also thought of making this run from a Raspberry Pi but once again there is about 5 wire running to it.

    Any Ideas?

  2. would you be able to ffprobe the recorded a/v file and check whether the streams start separately inside of the wrapper? that might be a possible solution to removing the trial & error from the manual stream delay.

  3. Random protip: The & at the end of the line in rc.local is VERY important; it sets a PID for the script, so that rc.local's execution is not stalled at that point. (rc.local must finish execution for a Linux system to be fully booted).

  4. Hey, Tinkernut! Your videos actually inspired me to do timelaspes of my own projects. I am currently working on a project involving an Arduino Mega and the MPU-6050, which is a rather cheap accelerator/gyroscope and coupling it with a C++ program for reading the data from the Arduino. I'm sure it could be done with Python, but C++ is what I'm more comfortable with. I'm really hoping to have it done soon. Cheers!

  5. Wouldn't it be clearer for your audience if you used a text editor rather than nano? For the simple benefits of text rap around and better syntax highlighting! Eg. Geany or Eclipse.

  6. A Few things:
    – That 20 second delay is likely coming from YouTube. YouTube Transcodes video and due to that, it has a massive delay. In some cases this can be upwards of 37 seconds!
    – Check out "MoPi". It’s a modular power supply for Raspberry Pis that allow for multiple power inputs as well as the ability to have a hardware button for a graceful shutdown.
    – Lastly… If you use restream[dot]io, you would be able to use this to publish to a multitude of platforms instead of YouTube! Happy coding!

This is the first of the videos I’ve seen but rest assured that I will be watching the other two. This is great.

  8. Hey, here's an idea for a project: An LED light strip that's controlled through a computer program! How hard would it be to create something like that?

  9. what is the purpose of making this type of camera with a raspberry pi? Is it to make it smaller that what's currently available, or cheaper, or better, or more customizable, or just for fun?

  10. You made it work and work well. So be proud and Thanks for sharing your wisdom with us!
How could you add constant power to this for use as a home security camera?
